About Me
Annie McGuirk-Molina, M.Ed.
Mindfulness quite literally saved my life.
Like so many people on this planet, I have experienced stress from working too much, anxiety from peak performance or social situations, and bouts of depression after a loss or during the dreary, winter months.
Several years ago, my therapist recommended I try Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR). Throughout my first course, my judging mind had me believe I was a terrible practitioner. My racing thoughts often overrode my ability to tap into the present moment, and my harsh inner critic always seemed the loudest during my practice. Somehow, some way, I stuck with it, and within a few years I had the ability to acknowledge my thoughts and not let them take over my life. I also found a very physical refuge in my body and my breath, which I had never been able to do. All this, and more, through one simple, completely drug-free, money-free, and fancy-equipment-free practice called mindfulness.
Mindfulness teaching and coaching is not a replacement for professional therapy, although it can be an amazing complement to your regular, professional therapy sessions. I am not a licensed therapist.
